Windows and Doors
Poor quality, single glazed windows & doors can be the cause of significant heat loss from your property. By installing uPVC double glazed units you could save money on your energy bills.
Cambs HIA replaces a number of doors and windows each year for low-income households funded by a Special Purpose Grant. This grant is available for residents of Cambridge City or South Cambs.
The building regulations require doors and windows in existing dwellings to have a U value not greater than 1.4 W/m2/K and for all new doors and windows to comply with Product Assessment Specification (PAS 24:2022) which is the standard used to assess the performance of doors and windows intended to resist the type of attack normally associated with casual or opportunistic burglars.
Some doors may also need to be widened or lowered for people with disabilities and this work can sometimes also be funded by a Disabled Facilities Grant which can stretch the funds available to improve your home.
As part of the District Councils, Cambs HIA is committed to improving the energy efficiency of homes in our area.
